The school of Environmental Science and Engineering was established in July 2007. The school has 79 staff members, including 59 full-time teachers. Among the teaching staff, there are 16 professors, 33 associate professors, and 99% of the teachers have Ph.D. degrees. 49% of the teachers have overseas experience, 70% of the teachers have engineering backgrounds. There are also one double-appointed academician, one national "Excellent Young Scientist", one Qianjiang Scholar Professor, two provincial "10,000 Talents Program" talents, three provincial "Outstanding Youth" talents, and more than 30 other provincial and ministerial-level talents. There are 8 Ph.D. supervisors and 40 master supervisors.

Environmental science and engineering is a provincial-level first-class discipline, and engineering science and environmental/ecology enter the top 1% of ESI global ranking. The school currently has three undergraduate majors: environmental engineering (national first-class undergraduate major construction site, Distinctive major), environmental science (provincial first-class undergraduate major construction site), and water supply and drainage science and engineering. The school has the right to grant master's degree in environmental science and engineering and environmental resources, as well as the right to enroll foreign students.

The school's teaching and research laboratory covers a total area of 13,000m², with a total asset value of more than 70 million yuan for teaching and research instruments and equipment. It also has the Zhejiang Gongshang University Analysis and Testing Center, which has passed the national metrology certification (CMA). In the past five years, the school has undertaken two national key research projects, one national natural science fund key project, and one excellent young scientist project; many research achievements have been published in international well-known journals such as PNAS, NC, EST, WR; the school has also been featured in social services such as serving the "Great Zhejiang" construction.
